Eight Prides in 2027, by month: which to choose, where to sleep, where to eat and what to do around it

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Choose the Pride for the city around it, not the size of the parade. All of them fill up with hotels months ahead.
  • In calendar order: Cape Town (late February), Sydney (6 March), São Paulo (30 May), Tokyo (early June), Turin (18 to 26 June), Mexico City (late June), Madrid (early July) and Amsterdam (early August).
  • Confirmed by the organiser: Sydney, São Paulo and the EuroPride week in Turin. The others are estimates by pattern and will be confirmed during 2027.
  • I found no announced host for WorldPride 2027. The 2028 one will be in Cape Town, from 30 September to 14 October.

A Pride parade lasts a day. What you do the other five is what makes the trip worth it or not.

A Pride parade.

That is why each city comes with its history, its hotel, its table and its plan, and with what you need to enter from Mexico. Dates are marked as confirmed or estimated, because several organisers have not yet published 2027.

How to choose

Ask yourself three questions. Do you want a parade that is a street party, one that is a political march or one that is a week-long festival? Do you have to combine it with another trip, such as a safari, a route through Italy or a week in Japan? And which month do you have? The last one decides almost everything.

1. Cape Town, late February (estimated)

The date. Cape Town Pride 2026 ran from 5 February to 1 March, with the parade and Mardi Gras on Saturday 28 February in Green Point, according to local press. For 2027, listings point to Saturday 27 February, with no confirmation from the organiser. The march starts in De Waterkant, the city's gay quarter, from the permanent rainbow crosswalk on Somerset Road.

Cape Town, with Lion's Head behind.

Why this city. South Africa legalised same-sex marriage in 2006, and De Waterkant, nicknamed the "Pink District", keeps houses dating from the late 1700s. It will also host WorldPride 2028, the first in Africa.

Where to sleep. It is the city with the most MICHELIN Key hotels in Africa: of the 27 Keys South Africa received in its first selection, 13 are in and around Cape Town, according to Time Out.

What to do. Walk De Waterkant, go up Table Mountain and combine the trip with a safari. From Cape Town to Sabi Sand it is a short flight; in how to choose your first safari the full route is laid out, with Singita and The Silo.

Entry. Mexicans need a visa for South Africa. The embassy processes it free of charge, and it takes 10 working days. Start early.

2. Sydney, 6 March (confirmed)

The date. The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade is on Saturday 6 March 2027, along Oxford Street, Flinders Street and Anzac Parade, according to its official site. The 2027 festival theme is "HYPERBLOOM".

The Sydney Opera House and the harbour.

The history. The first parade was on 24 June 1978: a march in the morning and a parade at night, which ended with police violence and arrests. That repression drew the country's attention and turned the parade into an annual event. Those who took part in 1978 are called the 78ers, and they have led it every year since 1998. In 2026 it drew more than 200,000 spectators and more than 10,000 participants. It is always opened by Dykes on Bikes, the First Nations floats and the 78ers floats.

Where to sleep. The Park Hyatt Sydney has 155 rooms and a view of the Opera House, according to a hotel guide. I would choose it for being on the harbour.

Where to eat. According to the Good Food Guide 2026, Sixpenny, in Stanmore, scores 19 out of 20, with a seven-course seasonal tasting menu and fermentation, in a 1907 building. ARIA, at Circular Quay, offers modern Australian cooking with a view of the harbour, and Bentley, in the centre, European food. Le Ho Fook has two hats for its modern Chinese cooking.

What to do. The Fair Day, a neighbourhood fair open to all, is listed for Sunday 21 February, to be confirmed. The 78ers have their own stall.

Entry. Australia does not exempt Mexicans from a visa. The visitor visa (subclass 600) costs from 250 Australian dollars, according to the Department of Home Affairs. I could not confirm whether the Mexican passport qualifies for the ETA, the electronic authorisation, so I check it with you before buying tickets.

3. São Paulo, 30 May (confirmed)

The date. The 31st Parada do Orgulho LGBT+ of São Paulo is on 30 May 2027, from 10 in the morning, on Avenida Paulista, according to its official site. Before it there is a cultural fair, on 27 May.

São Paulo, from the air.

The history. The parade began in 1996 at Praça Roosevelt, with a few people "who faced fear", as the organisation puts it. The next year it took over Avenida Paulista and stayed. Today it is counted in millions. In 2026 it turned 30, with the slogan "A rua convoca. A urna confirma" (The street calls. The ballot box confirms).

Where to sleep.

Where to eat. The MICHELIN Guide Rio de Janeiro & São Paulo 2025 gives two stars to D.O.M., Evvai and Tuju. KANOE and Ryo Gastronomia earned their first star that year. In parade week, book months ahead.

What to do. According to a local guide, the Mercado Municipal, from 1933, is the must-stop for its mortadella sandwich. The Pinacoteca, inaugurated in 1905, holds one of the most important collections of Brazilian art. MASP sits on Paulista itself. Beco do Batman, in Vila Madalena, is a graffiti alley that is repainted often.

Entry. Mexicans enter Brazil without a visa for up to 90 days.

4. Tokyo, early June (estimated)

The date. Tokyo Pride 2026 was on 6 and 7 June in Yoyogi Park, and the parade covered three kilometres through Shibuya and Harajuku, according to the press. For 2027, listings point to an early-June weekend, with no confirmation. It began in 2012 as Tokyo Rainbow Pride and changed its name in 2025. Entry to the festival is free; to march you must register first.

Tokyo, at night.

Why go. It is the most important Pride in Asia that combines with a trip to Japan. If you are going anyway, add Kyoto: in my Japan guide are the hotels and restaurants there.

Where to sleep. Japan has seven hotels with Three MICHELIN Keys, according to the guide. Three are in Tokyo: Palace Hotel Tokyo, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi and Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo. JANU Tokyo, which opened in 2024 in Azabudai Hills, appears in the guide among the two-Key ones, though I could not confirm its exact category.

Entry. The official list of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes Mexico among the countries exempt from a tourist visa.

5. Turin, 18 to 26 June (week confirmed)

It is the one I like most on the list, and the only one that lasts nine days.

The date. Turin will host EuroPride 2027 from 18 to 26 June, according to the city's tourist office and the European association that awards it. It won the bid on 2 November 2024 with 53% of the votes, ahead of Vilnius, Torremolinos and Gloucestershire, according to PinkNews. There will be a week of conferences, cultural events and shows, and the parade through the centre. I have not yet found the official day of the parade. It will be the third time Italy hosts, after Rome in 2000 and 2011. A study cited by the Italian press estimates 15 to 25 million euros in tourist impact.

Turin, with the Mole Antonelliana and the Alps behind.

The scene. The LGBTQ+ nightlife quarter is San Salvario, south of Porta Nuova station, according to a gay travel guide. Italy recognises civil unions since 2016, but not same-sex marriage.

Where to sleep. The Grand Hotel Sitea turned one hundred in 2025. It is in the centre, and inside it is the Carignano restaurant.

Where to eat. Turin is among the cities with the best tables in Italy, and the tourist office lists several:

What to do. The Museo Egizio has the second-largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world, after Cairo, with more than 40,000 pieces; in 2024 more than a million people visited. The Reggia di Venaria, the royal palace, is a few kilometres from the centre. With the EuroPride week you have time for both, and for an escape to the Piedmont hills.

Entry. No visa for up to 90 days. The ETIAS permit, at 20 euros, has been planned for some time, and the official portal says it is not receiving applications and gives no date. If you are already thinking of northern Italy, the route is in Milan, Lake Como and Venice.

6. Mexico City, late June (estimated)

The date. The 2026 LGBT+ Pride March was on Saturday 27 June, from the Angel of Independence to the Zócalo, according to Chilango. The 2025 one was on Saturday the 28th. By the pattern, the 2027 one would be Saturday 26 June, but there is no official date.

The Angel of Independence, on Paseo de la Reforma.

The history. The first protest with an LGBT contingent was in 1978, in the march for the tenth anniversary of 2 October. The first march of its own was in 1979, with about a thousand people and police in the way, according to Excélsior. Today attendance is estimated in the hundreds of thousands, though I found no official figure.

Where to sleep. Michelin gives a Key to 17 hotels in the city, and as of June 2025 the capital was still waiting for its first Three-Key distinction. Casa Polanco, with two Keys, is a 19-room hotel in Polanco: a 1940s neocolonial mansion with a modernist annex. The Alexander Hotel, in Torre Virreyes, and Casona Roma Norte also hold a Key.

Where to eat. In the MICHELIN Guide Mexico 2025, Pujol and Quintonil kept their two stars. In the city, Máximo, Rosetta, Em, Sud 777, Esquina Común, Masala y Maíz, Expendio de Maíz and El Califa de León, the taquería, have one star, according to Chilango. Baldío received the capital's first Green Star.

Why include it. Because it is the trip that needs no plane and no visa, and because whoever comes from abroad finds that in your city they eat better than in theirs.

7. Madrid, early July (estimated)

The date. According to the Madrid tourism guide, the parade would be on Saturday 3 July 2027, with the opening speech on 30 June in Plaza Pedro Zerolo and stages until 4 July, all to be confirmed. In 2026 the Pride festivities ran from 25 June to 5 July, organised by AEGAL with FELGTB and COGAM, and the parade, which leaves Atocha and reaches Plaza de Colón, was on 4 July.

The Puerta de Alcalá, in Madrid.

Where to sleep and eat. I have already written it, with the three hotel zones and the starred tables: it is in my Madrid guide. The three hotels are the Mandarin Oriental Ritz (three Keys), the Four Seasons and the Rosewood Villa Magna (two). Among the tables, DiverXO (three stars), Coque and the Corral de la Morería.

Note. In July it is hot, and dinner is at nine.

8. Amsterdam, early August (estimated)

The date. A listing places Pride week between 31 July and 8 August 2027, with the Canal Parade on the first Saturday of August, which would be the 7th. There is no official date. It will be smaller than in 2026, when Amsterdam hosted WorldPride.

Amsterdam canal houses at sunset.

The history. The first Canal Parade was on 3 August 1996, with more than 45 boats and about 20,000 people, according to iamexpat. It began as a one-off before the 1998 Gay Games, the first outside North America, and stayed. Today there are about 80 boats, and it is the only Pride parade held on water. At the Homomonument, from 1987, three pink granite triangles sink into the pavement and the Keizersgracht canal. Each points to a place: the National Monument on Dam Square, the Anne Frank House and COC Amsterdam, according to the city.

Where to sleep. In October 2025 Michelin gave its first Keys to Dutch hotels, according to NL Times. De L'Europe Amsterdam was the only one with three. Rosewood, TwentySeven, Tivoli Doelen and Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park have two. Pulitzer, The Dylan, Soho House and The Craftsmen have one.

Where to eat. Choux and Cue, in Amsterdam, earned a star in the 2025 guide, according to DutchNews. The country's only three-star restaurant is De Librije, in Zwolle, outside the city.

Entry. No visa for up to 90 days, with ETIAS to come.

What I am asked most

01

When is the biggest Pride of 2027?

São Paulo, on 30 May, is the one that gathers the most people and the only one in Latin America with a confirmed date. EuroPride, in Turin, is from 18 to 26 June.

02

Is there a WorldPride in 2027?

I found no announced host. WorldPride 2028 will be in Cape Town, from 30 September to 14 October.

03

Which Prides do not need a visa for a Mexican?

São Paulo, Tokyo, Turin, Madrid and Amsterdam. Cape Town, Sydney and New York require a visa.

04

How far ahead should I book?

Months. Hotels and starred tables fill before plane tickets.

How we would build it

If these eight Prides have one thing in common, it is that none can be solved in a last-minute week. Tell me which month you can travel, with whom and what you would combine it with, and I will propose one. This is how we build a tailor-made trip, starting with the first call, which costs nothing. If you are looking for honeymoon ideas, I have five LGBT destinations already verified. And if you already have a month, tell us when you can travel.
